On December 20th, McLean Melody had the chance to perform to a lovely group of elderly at the Chesterbrook Residences. We started our program with a flow of songs from our performers of all ages, including a lively piano duet, a stunning pipa duet, two beautiful cello performances and multiple amazing classical and modern piano pieces. The elderly really enjoyed our performances and clapped enthusiastically after each piece, wanting to hear more. It was a delightful opportunity to share our music with them and create a positive, buzzing atmosphere, filling the room with a joyous mood.
We then followed with a Holiday Music Guessing Game! We had our talented musicians play popular Christmas pieces to the elderly and invited them to guess the name of the tunes. We had a cello-violin duet of ‘Holly Jolly Christmas’, where we encouraged the seniors to clap and tap on beat! They almost immediately raised their hands after most songs, hearing the familiar songs of ‘Deck the Halls’, ‘We Wish You and Merry Christmas’, ‘Winter Wonderland’ and many more! The room was filled of laughter, cheers and clapping.
This experience showed us how music spreads happiness, where even the shortest pieces can encourage the elderly to participate in celebration. We hope to share our love and care to the seniors and make each moment merry and cheerful!
We wish everyone a Merry Christmas!
