This concert, I had to play 2 pieces, the Swan, which was a new piece, and You Are the Reason again. I played the Swan pretty well, as I have practiced it a lot and it is a very famous cello piece. For You Are the Reason, I didn’t play it very well because my mom told me at the last minute to play it. I got everything down except for the very high notes, where I accidentally played the wrong notes. I guess me and Eileen nailed the other parts because we got a feature on Instagram. Some pros and cons about my performance playing the Swan was first pros. I got every note right, had the right rythm, and had close to perfect intonation. A few cons are that my cello had a wolf note while I was playing it, which wasn’t good, and sometimes my vibrato was a bit too quick. But overall, I feel that I did a solid job on it.
Next concert, I will probably be playing Canon in D. This is another very famous piece, composed by Johann Pachelbel. It is around the same speed as You Are the Reason, but it speeds up on some parts. Also, the notes don’t get as high as You Are the Reason which will make it easier to read. So hopefully playing that piece at the next concert will go well.
