A Shared Celebration: Volunteering and Rhythm Games at the Senior Center

On a recent visit to a BrightView senior living on Dec 13th 2025, our group had the opportunity to share holiday music with residents through a live performance. First, we performed several holiday songs as a small ensemble using piano, viola, and cello. The combination of instruments created a warm and joyful sound that filled the room and immediately set a festive mood. The seniors listened closely and enjoyed hearing the familiar melodies played live.

After that, we wanted to add a little more fun and interaction. We passed out small shakers and other simple instruments so everyone could join in. As we played “Let It Snow” and “Jingle Bells” on the speaker, we encouraged the seniors to tap and shake along to the beat. Soon, the room was full of rhythm, smiles, and laughter.

This experience showed us how music can bring people together. By inviting the seniors to participate, the performance became a shared celebration, making the moment even more meaningful and joyful for everyone involved.
